Further details

In order to realize a resilient society where all are assured the safety and security, it is important to solve the following social issues. We are looking for business ideas with social impact that will contribute to solving these issues!

Societal IssuesSubtheme DescriptionClues to Solutions
①Building resilient societal systems against natural disasters●Natural disasters such as torrential rains and earthquakes are becoming more frequent and more severe, causing serious damage to human lives and infrastructure functions.
●It is important for communities to prepare for natural disasters on a daily basis, prepare emergency responses when disasters occur, and take measures for recovery and reconstruction in the aftermath of disasters.
●Support services for household and individual preparedness (stockpiling, evacuation sites, route recognition, etc.), information provision services from normal times that will be effective even in times of disaster, centralization and openness of forecast information and real-time information, creation of effective communities in the event of a disaster
②Fostering an individual’s awareness of crisis and behavioral change●People tend to think that the government is responsible for disaster preparedness and response, but there is a limit to what public assistance alone can provide, and it is necessary to foster a sense of crisis and change the behavior of individuals.
●It is important for the public and private sectors to work together on raising awareness of crises in peacetime through disaster prevention education, fostering awareness for people who think that they will be okay (here) even if a disaster comes, and providing phase-free products and services that are useful not only in times of disaster but also in peacetime.
Applications for rapid evacuation in the event of a disaster, mechanisms for behavior change to avoid hazards in normal times (disaster prevention education, phase-free products and services, etc.)
③Establishment of efficient maintenance methods for infrastructure●Societal infrastructure that was intensively developed during the period of rapid economic growth is coming due for renewal very soon, and the financial burden on municipalities for infrastructure maintenance is serious.
●Maintenance involves inspection (understanding the current status, inspections, etc.), judgment (necessity of repairs, setting priorities, etc.), implementation of repairs, and functional preservation, and each status requires effective and efficient implementation.
●Efficient inspection methods, daily information gathering and anomaly detection, optimal repair and construction
④Need for the Revitalization of the “Town” in a Declining Population●The face of the “town” is changing, especially in regional cities, due to the declining population, the aging society with fewer children, and changing social needs. In particular, the number of vacant houses is on the increase throughout Japan, adversely affecting the living environment in terms of disaster prevention, sanitation, and scenery.
●It is important to understand the current status of such “towns” and to revitalize them, as the general revitalization of local cities is an important issue.
●Identification and database of “town” assets, capitalization and utilization of vacant houses (e.g., use as temporary evacuation sites in the event of a disaster, conversion to multi-location living), and regional revitalization services utilizing negative “town” assets.
