Report on “ICF Meetup 2024” on July 19
On July 19th, we held the networking and matching event “ICF Meetup 2024,” where participants shared information and exchanged opinions on initiatives to resolve societal issues. The ICF secretariat reported on the “Japan-ASEAN Start-up Business Matching Fair 2024” held in Bangkok on June 19th, in which six startup members from ICF participated. Following that, 15 members, including startups, large corporations, universities, and local governments, took the stage to give their pitches.

Report on the “Platinum Career Award Ceremony and Memorial Symposium” on July 31
“Platinum Career Award Ceremony and Memorial Symposium” was held at the Tokyo Stock Exchange Hall on July 31, 2024. More than 180 people attended the event, both on-site and online.

“Workshop on Human Augmentation and Virtual Economy” held on September 5
As the second phase of the “Human Augmentation and Virtual Economy” activity series, we held an ideathon to explore valuable business applications centered around startup seeds. On the day of the event, 12 participants were divided into two groups to discuss and create ideas for co-creation to resolve social issues. We are currently planning the second session for around November.

Startup Wheel (8/22-23) held in Vietnam
From August 22 to 23, 2024 in Vietnam, the final round of “Startup Wheel”, a business pitch contest which received applications from over 2,000 startups from Vietnam and other countries, was held in Ho Chi Minh City. Three startup members from ICF-UPWARD, Inc., tomoiku Inc., and Faeger Co., Ltd.-participated in the pitch event, with UPWARD and Tomoiku making it to the top 50, and Faeger being selected as one of the five finalists. The event is scheduled to be held again next year, so if you are interested, please contact the secretariat.
*Startup Wheel: One of the largest pitch events in Vietnam where not only startups but also VCs, government officials, and government agencies from Vietnam and abroad gather. It is organized by Business Startup Support Centre (BSSC), one of the most prominent startup support centers in Vietnam established in 2010.

Second session of “ICF Social Implementation Research: Public Affairs (PA) “to be held on September 27
We conducted a survey on stakeholders and policy trends in public affairs (PA), using the business of ICF startup member Morus Inc. as a case study. We would like to introduce this content to ICF members, sharing the concrete procedures and insights of PA activities to enhance understanding. We also hope to connect this event to future workshops for those who are interested in engaging in PA activities.

ICF Interim Meeting 2024 to be held on October18
The ICF Interim Meeting 2024 will be held online at 15:00 on Friday, October 18. In addition to the activity report on the first half of this fiscal year and the schedule for the second half, the ICF Secretariat will introduce new trends that we are currently focusing on, such as the background of the emergence of new associations and foundations oriented toward new approaches to resolving societal issues and the possibility of collaboration between NPOs and companies, etc.
Details will be announced at a later date.
MRI DEMO DAY 2025!
Following last year, MRI DEMO DAY 2025, a co-creation event with startups focused on resolving societal issues, hosted by MRI/ICF, will be held on January 15, 2025 at Otemachi Mitsui Hall. We plan to launch a preliminary website and invite participants in November.

Notice of mif 2024 Briefing Seminar
Mitsubishi Research Institute’s consumer information database service, “Market Intelligence & Forecast (mif),” has been conducting a fixed-point survey (mif Basic Survey) once a year since 2011. The survey for FY 2024 has been completed, and a briefing seminar will be held online from 15:00 on September 26 (Thu).
